Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially and falls just short of the 150-word minimum, containing 148 words (with 12 words copied from the prompt left uncounted). While the student attempts to report the main features and makes some comparisons, such as noting that the 16-20 age group spends the most time online, the coverage is mechanical and lists almost every single data point without synthesizing the information effectively. The overview is overly simplistic, and the lack of proper development places this response at the lower band level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some basic organization with paragraph breaks separating different age groups, but the response lacks a clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are repetitive and sometimes inaccurate, such as 'While,' and 'In the last,'. Referencing is also weak, leading to choppy sentences that do not flow smoothly. The layout attempts to group information logically, but the mechanical transitions and lack of advanced cohesive ties prevent the text from achieving a higher band.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task. There are noticeable lexical errors, such as 'high time' instead of 'more time', 'spending less one hour', and 'differnce' (spelling error). The student relies heavily on repeating basic words like 'spending', 'hours', 'internet', 'male', and 'female' throughout the text. These frequent lexical shortcomings and limited range mean the vocabulary can cause some slight difficulty or monotony for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response shows a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on repetitive subject-verb patterns. Attempts at complex sentences or comparisons are consistently faulty, lacking essential auxiliary verbs and prepositions, such as 'From 16-20 age group are spending', 'male spending high time', and 'ale spending less time'. Frequent errors in grammar, subject-verb agreement, and missing articles are present throughout the text, which can cause strain for the reader.
