Student answer (Band 5.5)
The table indicates information about the regular hours spent on the internet by European people of distinct age groups.
Overall, it is clear from the figure that males and females who were at the age of 16 to 20 used the internet most as compared to other age groups, while the age groups 51+ used less internet.
It is evident that, the age groups between 11-15 accounted for 8 hours for male and 6 for female whose spent on internet, in comparison to age groups 16-20 the spending hours on internet were increased for both gender which were 19 hours and 18 hours respectively.
As we can see from the data that, for age groups 21-25 there was a sudden fall in spending hours on internet, male saw 7 hours interest on internet and female showed 5 hours.
Between the age groups 26-30 both genders were stood at the same hours which were 4.
The age groups 31-50 males showed decline in hours which was 3 hours and this time female saw 1 hour more than male. The age groups 51 and more saw little interest in using internet which was least from other all ages groups which were 2 and 3 hours respectively.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by reporting the main features and making relevant comparisons across the data. You provide a clear overview at the beginning, noting that individuals aged 16 to 20 spent the most time online while those aged 51 and over spent the least. Most data points are reported accurately, such as noting the peak at 19 hours for males and 18 for females in the 16-20 age group. However, some parts of the response are more fully developed than others, and certain details contain minor inaccuracies—for instance, stating that females in the 31-50 group saw '1 hour more than male' when the data shows females at 4 hours and males at 3 hours. To reach the next level, ensure complete precision in reporting all data points and extend the analysis of key trends more evenly throughout the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The text has a coherent overall arrangement with a clear division into paragraphs, including an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs that break down the age categories logically. You attempt to use cohesive devices to link your ideas, such as 'Overall, it is clear', 'In comparison to', and 'As we can see from the data'. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or slightly repetitive, and referencing is not always completely smooth. For example, sentences like 'male saw 7 hours interest on internet and female showed 5 hours' lack fluid transitional phrasing. To improve Coherence and Cohesion, you should use a wider variety of more sophisticated cohesive markers and ensure that your sentences flow more naturally from one to the next without relying on formulaic expressions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully conveying basic statistical information like 'sudden fall', 'decline', and 'accounted for'. You attempt some less common vocabulary, but this is accompanied by noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word form. For instance, writing 'whose spent on internet' instead of 'which were spent', or describing hours as 'interest on internet' rather than time spent online, creates unnatural phrasing. There are also occasional awkward collocations such as 'both genders were stood at the same hours'. To achieve a higher band for Lexical Resource, you need to expand your range of vocabulary, use precise phrasing related to data representation, and minimize errors in word choice and collocation so that your meaning is communicated effortlessly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside a few attempts at complex forms that are often faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors in verb forms, prepositions within grammatical patterns, and sentence construction. Examples include 'the age groups between 11-15 accounted for 8 hours for male and 6 for female whose spent on internet', 'both genders were stood', and missing articles or pluralization errors like 'least from other all ages groups'. These errors can occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. To improve your grammatical score, you should focus on mastering basic sentence structures, ensuring correct subject-verb agreement, using appropriate prepositions for data, and increasing your control over complex clause structures to reduce error frequency.
