Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main peak correctly: the 16–20 group has the highest figures for both sexes, and people over 50 have the lowest. However, the response only partially reports the table’s key information. It gives no actual figures, so the size of the differences is unclear, and it describes several groups vaguely as “minor” or “slight.” There is also a factual error: the table’s 31–50 category is called “31–35,” and the overview says the 11–15 and 21–25 groups are minor without explaining their relative values. To make the summary more complete, include selected figures and compare the sexes—for example, males are higher in the first three age groups, while females are higher in the two oldest groups and equal at 26–30.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has an identifiable introduction, overview, and two body paragraphs, and it moves broadly from the overall pattern to age-group details. However, progression is limited because the body paragraphs repeat the same points already made in the overview, rather than developing a clear comparison across the table. Linking phrases such as “To begin with,” “In addition,” and “Further more” are used mechanically, and the final paragraph does not add much new information. Some sentence boundaries and punctuation also make the flow harder to follow. Organise the details into meaningful comparisons—for instance, the younger groups and the older groups—and use linking expressions only where they clarify the relationship between figures.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
Your vocabulary is sufficient to identify the topic and make basic comparisons, using terms such as “age group,” “both male and female,” and “highest.” However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or repetitive, which makes the report imprecise. Phrases such as “minor number,” “abit number,” and “little number” are not natural ways to describe table values; “slightly lower figures” or “the lowest average” would be clearer. “Internet users” also changes the meaning, since the table reports hours spent online, not the number of users. Spelling errors, including “europen” and “femlae,” further reduce accuracy. Build a small set of precise terms for reporting hours, figures, and differences.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with clauses joined by “while” and “in addition,” but control is inconsistent. Errors occur in basic sentence structure and agreement, as in “The table chart illustrate” and “people from 16-20 age group are highest number.” The overview also contains a sentence fragment beginning “while 11-15,” and the final sentence has faulty construction in “their are little number of users.” Articles, plurals, and punctuation are often missing or misplaced, making some relationships difficult to interpret. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, such as “The 16–20 age group records the highest average for both men and women.” Then check agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries when editing.
