Student answer (Band 5.5)
The table provides information about different age groups of European people alongwith the average hours spent on the Internet.
Overall, females and males belonging to the age group 16-20 showed the most hours spent on the Internet while people belonging to the age group above 50 spent least hours on the internet.
Teenagers males and females belonging to age group 11-15 spent 8 to 6 hours on internet.Adults in the age group 16-20 showed the maximum hours spent on the internet if all the groups.People in the age group 21-25 showed relatively less time spent on internet as compared to teenagers and adults.
Similarly, men and women having age between 26-30 spent 4 hours on the internet whereas, people having age ranging between 31-50 spent relatively less hours on the internet. However, male and females who were above 50 were the one who gave the least hours to the internet among all the age groups.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main pattern accurately: the 16–20 group records the highest figures for both sexes, while the 51+ group records the lowest. You also include several relevant comparisons, such as equal figures of four hours for men and women aged 26–30. However, coverage is partial and some details are unclear or inaccurate. For example, “spent 8 to 6 hours” does not clearly assign eight hours to males and six to females, and the 21–25 figures (7 and 5) are not reported. The statement that this group spent less time than “teenagers and adults” is also imprecise, since the 16–20 group is the peak. Report the figures explicitly and compare the age groups more systematically to make the key features clearer and better supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and further comparisons. This helps the reader identify the topic and the broad high and low points. However, progression between details is not consistently clear. The paragraph beginning “Teenagers males and females…” moves from the youngest group to the peak and then to ages 21–25 without a clear organising pattern, while the final sentence repeats the point about the oldest group already made in the overview. Linking words such as “Similarly” and “However” are present, but do not always show a precise relationship between the information. Group the figures in a consistent order and avoid repeating the same feature so that the comparisons develop more logically.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the general subject, including “age group,” “average hours,” and “spent on the Internet.” There are also attempts to vary wording with phrases such as “maximum hours” and “relatively less time.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are awkward or imprecise, including “gave the least hours to the internet” and “if all the groups.” Repetition of “spent on the internet” also makes the report less flexible. Choose standard data-reporting collocations and use precise terms for comparisons; for example, say that a group “recorded” a number of hours or “spent fewer hours” online. This would make the meaning more natural and exact.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, errors recur in sentence construction and punctuation. In “Overall, females and males…,” a space is missing after the comma, and “people belonging to the age group above 50 spent least hours” needs an article before “least.” The sentence “Adults in the age group 16-20 showed the maximum hours spent on the internet if all the groups” has an unclear grammatical structure, while “whereas, people…” uses punctuation incorrectly. Some sentences also lack clear, parallel phrasing when comparing males and females. Build shorter, complete comparison sentences first, then combine them accurately with conjunctions such as “while” or “whereas.”
