Average hours spent on the Internet by European people of different age groups

Student answer (Band 5.0)

The table illustrate the data of European individuals of different age who spent most of their time on Internet.

Overall, the table highlights that the older age citizen spent low time on Intenet. Whereas, the individuals who are teenagers and in the way of becoming adults they browse the Internet most. The age group where people become person of mature age and the age group between child and teenager surf the Internet in moderation.

According to table, it shows that age of individuals between 16-20 spent more time on Internet. Whereas, the age of citizen between 11-15 & 21-25 have the same surfing time on internet. Citizen of older age like 31-50 or 50+ utilize the Internet less.

Therefore, it is clearly highlight that the male Europiean citizen spent average time on Internet. Similarly, the number of female European individuals have also same level like male. Both male and female browse the Internet at same level.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the broad pattern that internet use peaks among 16–20-year-olds and is lower among older people, which is relevant to the table. However, the response only partially reports the data and several comparisons are inaccurate or unclear. The 11–15 and 21–25 groups do not have the same hours: males record 8 versus 7, and females 6 versus 5. The claim that both sexes browse at the same level is also too broad; male figures are higher in most groups, while females are higher only among 31–50s and those aged 51+. Include the male and female figures and give a precise overview of the peak and the overall decline with age.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has separate paragraphs and uses basic signposting such as “Overall,” “According to table,” and “Therefore,” so the reader can recognise an attempt to organise the report. However, the ideas do not progress clearly: the second paragraph gives an overview, the third repeats the peak and older-age pattern, and the final paragraph introduces a general comparison of males and females without supporting it with figures. “Whereas” is also used to begin sentence fragments, which weakens the links between ideas. A clearer sequence would be an overview followed by a paragraph comparing the age groups and another reporting the differences between males and females. Avoid repeating the same general points.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary, including “age group,” “surfing time,” and “utilize,” and the main topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for a formal data report. “Spent most of their time on Internet” suggests a much stronger claim than the table supports, while “citizen” and “individuals” are repeated where “people” or “users” would be more natural. There are also spelling errors, including “Intenet” and “Europiean,” and phrases such as “same level like male” are unclear. Use precise terms for the measured quantity and vary vocabulary only where the alternatives fit naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a few complex sentence forms, including “Whereas, the individuals who are teenagers…” and “the age group where people become…,” but control is uneven and many sentences contain grammatical errors. For example, “The table illustrate” has subject–verb disagreement, and “the older age citizen spent low time” has problems with number and sentence construction. Several clauses beginning with “Whereas” are incomplete, and “it is clearly highlight” uses an incorrect verb form. Articles and prepositions are also often missing or awkward, as in “According to table” and “on Internet.” Practise accurate simple sentences first, then connect them with correctly formed clauses and check agreement, articles, and verb forms.
