Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main peak accurately: people aged 16–20 record the highest figures for both sexes, and you report 19 hours for males and 18 for females. You also include several comparisons across the younger and middle age groups. However, the overview is broad and does not clearly summarise the full pattern: internet use rises to a peak at 16–20, then generally declines with age. The final 51+ group is omitted, and the statement that older people are “less likely” to use the internet is not quite supported by a table of average hours. To strengthen the response, cover the oldest group and describe the overall trend precisely, while keeping comparisons tied to the figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, beginning with an introduction and overview before moving through age groups, so the reader can follow the general subject. The comparisons are mostly presented in a sensible age sequence. However, the progression is not fully controlled: the overview is followed by a separate paragraph repeating the 16–20 peak, and the final sentence groups the 31–50 figures without clearly distinguishing male and female values. The response also stops without covering the 51+ category. Use a clearer grouping—for example, peak and younger ages, followed by the decline among older groups—and use linking phrases to show contrasts rather than relying mainly on repeated “Similarly.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing the table, including “average,” “age group,” “highest,” and “equal time,” and the meaning is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, especially “spent time on internet” and “average time.” Some combinations are unnatural, such as “have spent most of the hours on internet” and “spend a significant time on internet.” More precise reporting language would make the description clearer and more academic. Choose verbs such as “recorded” or “averaged,” and use “hours spent online” rather than repeatedly describing people as spending time on the internet. Check spelling as well: “hoursn” appears to be a typing error.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including clauses beginning “while” and “where,” and the main comparisons can usually be understood. However, errors recur in verb forms, articles, agreement, and sentence construction. For example, “people who have an age between 16 and 20 have highest number” needs more accurate article use and phrasing, while “people having age between 31 and 50 have spend” has an incorrect verb form. The sentence beginning “Children … where male having” is also incomplete in its clause structure. Punctuation is inconsistent, including the missing space after “Overall,”. Practise complete comparison sentences with consistent present-tense verbs and check each sentence for a clear subject and finite verb.
