Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You report most of the table’s figures accurately, including the peak for males and females aged 16–20 (19 and 18 hours) and the equal figures for ages 26–30 (4 hours each). You also identify that usage is low among older groups. However, the response mainly lists age groups one by one rather than selecting and summarising the key patterns. The final claim that “the girls time is upp and the boys time is low” is unclear and does not accurately describe the overall comparison: males record higher figures in the younger groups, while females are slightly higher in the 31–50 and 51+ groups. A concise overview of the peak, the general decline with age, and the small gender differences would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The information follows the age groups in table order, so a reader can generally track which figures belong to each group. Basic linking expressions such as “furthermore” and “in this age” also show an attempt to connect points. However, the response is presented as one long block, with little punctuation or paragraphing to separate the overview from the details. Repeatedly beginning with “the age of” makes the progression mechanical, and some links do not clarify the relationship between ideas. For example, “I see all the table” does not function as a useful conclusion. Grouping the younger and older ages into separate paragraphs and using clear comparisons would improve the organisation.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use a small set of relevant terms, including “female,” “boys,” “hours,” and “age,” and the repeated vocabulary allows the reader to recognise the topic. However, the range is basic and repetitive, and several word choices or spellings make the report less clear or less appropriate for an academic summary. Examples include “INTERNAT,” “IUNTERNET,” “EUROPION,” and “the girls time is upp.” The phrase “internet using time” is also awkward, while “boys” and “girls” are less suitable than “males” and “females” for describing age groups that include adults. Use accurate spelling and a wider set of terms such as “usage,” “spend online,” and “hours per day.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to report comparisons using simple clauses, and some figures can be understood despite the errors. However, sentence structures are very limited, and frequent problems with clause formation, articles, agreement, and punctuation sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. The opening, “IN THIS GRAPH SHOWS,” is not a complete grammatical construction; “the female using internet 6 hours” also lacks a correctly formed verb phrase. Long strings joined with “and” run together without clear sentence boundaries. Practise writing complete sentences with a subject and verb, for example, “Females aged 11–15 spent 6 hours online per day, compared with 8 hours for males.” Full stops and commas would also help separate comparisons.
