Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response identifies two relevant figures for ages 11–15 and notes that the 16–20 group spends the most time online, so it shows some understanding of the table’s main pattern. However, it reports very little of the data: the other age groups and the male–female comparisons are omitted, and there is no clear overview of the overall trend, such as usage falling after the 16–20 peak. The statement about the youngest group is also difficult to interpret precisely. Most importantly, the response is substantially below the required 150 words, leaving the task only minimally addressed. To improve, provide a concise overview and compare the figures across all age bands, selecting the key similarities and differences.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the table, gives figures for one age group, and then mentions the peak for ages 16–20. The linking phrase “First of all” signals progression, but there is no developed paragraph structure or clear movement through the remaining age groups. The final sentence is also vague, so the relationship between the figures is not fully explained. Because the response is so brief, ideas are not arranged into a coherent summary of the table. Organise the report into an introduction, an overview of the main pattern, and a short comparison of the age groups, using clear links such as “By contrast” and “After this peak” where appropriate.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses a few relevant terms, including “table,” “hours,” “age,” and “internet,” and the reader can identify the general subject. However, vocabulary is limited and some expressions are unnatural or imprecise: “ordinary hours,” “spent time on the internet,” and “European human of another age groups” do not communicate the information clearly or idiomatically. “Mostly” is also not the best choice for describing the group with the highest figure. Use standard data-reporting language, such as “average hours,” “people in different age groups,” “spent online,” and “the highest figures.” A wider range of accurate terms for comparing values would make the summary clearer and more suitable for an academic report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts simple sentence forms, but grammatical control is inconsistent. In “it can be see,” the verb form after “can” is incorrect; “it can be seen” is needed. The phrase “age of 11-15 the males 8 hours spent time” lacks a complete, well-formed clause, while “females 6 hours time spent on net” has similar problems with sentence structure and missing grammatical words. The final sentence, “age of 16-20 peoples spent more time,” also has an awkward subject construction. These errors make parts of the report difficult to follow. Practise complete comparison sentences, for example, “Males aged 11–15 spent eight hours online, compared with six hours for females,” and vary the structures only when you can control them accurately.
