Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You report several key figures accurately, including the peak for 16–20-year-olds (19 hours for males and 18 for females), the low for people aged 51+ (2 and 3), and the equal figures for ages 26–30. However, the response mainly lists values rather than selecting and summarising the main patterns. The overview is unclear: the claim that males “have dominate” in internet use does not explain the overall age trend, and females actually exceed males in the 31–50 and 51+ groups. The comparison that time “increase[s]” significantly is also misleading, since usage falls after the 16–20 group. Identify the peak and the general decline with age, while noting the small gender differences.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic structure, with an opening, a paragraph reporting figures, and a concluding statement. This gives the information some organisation, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “In addition” show an attempt to connect points. However, the sequence is largely a list of age groups rather than a clear progression from the main overview to supporting comparisons. Several connectors are used mechanically, and “To conclude” introduces a vague repetition instead of a useful summary. Group the figures into meaningful patterns—for example, the peak and subsequent decline, followed by gender comparisons—and use fewer, more precise transitions. This would make the relationships between the data easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “highest,” “lowest,” “amount,” and “average,” so the reader can recognise that you are describing table data. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning difficult to interpret. Phrases such as “standard hours run through on internet,” “time fiil,” and “dominate in spending time” are not natural ways to describe internet use. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “european,” “famale,” “addtion,” and “eurpoean.” Aim for precise, reusable expressions such as “hours spent online,” “recorded,” and “the figure for males,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Most sentences rely on simple patterns, and attempts to combine ideas often contain errors that make the relationships unclear. For example, “the highest amount of time spent on internet of age 16-20 year male 19 and female 18” lacks a clear sentence structure and verb, while “male have increase significant amount of number” has problems with verb form and sentence construction. Agreement and articles are also inconsistent, as in “both the gender have.” The response does communicate individual figures, but grammatical control is not consistent enough for the comparisons to read smoothly. Practise complete comparison sentences, such as “Males aged 16–20 spent 19 hours online, compared with 18 hours for females,” and check subject–verb agreement and articles.
