Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the table’s subject and report several accurate figures, including the male 11–15 group (8 hours), male 21–25 group (7), and female 11–15 and 21–25 groups (6 and 5). However, the overview is unclear and does not summarise the main pattern: both sexes peak at ages 16–20, then usage generally declines with age. You say this group spent the most time online but omit its key figures, 19 hours for males and 18 for females. There are also factual omissions and an error: the male 31–50 group is reported as 31–40, and the female 31–50 figure of 4 is missing. Select the main comparisons and report them accurately to make the summary more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic structure, with an opening, an overview attempt, and separate paragraphs for male and female figures. This gives the reader some sense of how the information is organised. However, progression is limited: the overview repeats the same point about ages 16–20, while the detail paragraphs mostly list figures without drawing comparisons between the sexes or highlighting the overall decline. Linking words such as “Although,” “furthermore,” and “In the last” are sometimes awkward or do not clearly express the relationship between ideas. Improve cohesion by grouping comparable age bands together, using clear references, and making each paragraph develop a distinct point rather than repeating the table’s sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a small set of relevant terms, including “average hours,” “age group,” and “spent,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, vocabulary is repetitive, especially the repeated phrase “spent … hours on the internet,” and several word choices or forms are inaccurate: “tabular chart,” “noticing,” and “expent” make parts less clear. Spelling and capitalisation are also inconsistent, as in “european” and “hlurs.” Use precise reporting language and vary the verbs and nouns—for example, describe figures as “recorded,” “reached,” or “declined,” and refer to “internet use” or “time online.” This would make the account clearer and more appropriate to an academic summary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Most sentences are short and follow a repeated subject–verb pattern, so the range of structures is limited. Attempts to connect ideas sometimes produce faulty sentences, such as “Although age of 16-20 expent more time on internet and 21-25 age of group expent 7 hours,” where the clause structure is incomplete and the relationship between the figures is unclear. Articles and sentence boundaries are also often missing or inconsistent, as in “the age of male 11-15 spent 8 hours” and the run-on overview beginning “Overall, the data clearly show…”. Capitalisation after full stops is frequently incorrect. Practise accurate simple comparisons first, then combine them with controlled clauses such as “while” or “whereas.”
