Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main pattern accurately: the 16–20 group records the highest figures (19 male, 18 female), while people aged 51+ record the lowest (2 and 3). You also report the other age-group figures correctly and include a useful overall comparison, noting that the peak is about eight times the lowest male figure. This covers the task well. To make the overview more complete and precise, highlight the broad decline after ages 16–20 and note that males record more hours in most groups, with equality at 26–30 and females slightly higher in the two oldest groups. Some comparisons are presented as a list rather than interpreted, so extending these patterns would strengthen the report further.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs covering the younger and older age groups. Sequencing expressions such as “First of all,” “Meanwhile,” and “Finally” help the reader follow the data. However, the linking can feel mechanical, and some connections are unclear. For example, “Which has the highest hours spent on the internet” is a fragment whose reference is not smoothly integrated with the preceding sentence. The overview’s comparison is also repeated in the final paragraph. Grouping the figures into a clearer comparison—for instance, peak ages, subsequent decline, and gender differences—would create stronger progression and reduce repetition. Overall, the arrangement is coherent, though cohesion is not consistently controlled.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough task-related vocabulary to communicate the figures, including “average hours,” “age groups,” and “highest” and “lowest.” However, the range is limited, and “spent” and “on the internet” recur frequently. Several phrases are unnatural or imprecise, such as “people spent for average hours” and “the age measure in years”; these make the introduction less clear and show limited control of collocation. “The age of people 16-20” is also an awkward way to refer to an age group. Aim for concise reporting language and vary expressions for time use and comparisons. The meaning remains generally understandable, but more accurate and flexible word choice is needed for a stronger performance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and most figures can be understood. However, control is uneven, particularly when clauses are joined. “Which has the highest hours spent on the internet” is a sentence fragment, while “the age of people 16-20 has highest spent time” has problems with article use and sentence construction. There are also errors in agreement and verb forms, as in “female spend 4 hours,” and punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, including the lowercase “the” after a full stop. These issues sometimes make the reader pause, although the intended comparisons are usually recoverable. Build accuracy by using complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles, agreement, and punctuation.
