Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You report several key figures accurately, including the peak for 16–20-year-olds (19 hours for males and 18 for females) and the low figures for people over 50. However, the response does not provide a clear overview of the main pattern, such as usage peaking among 16–20-year-olds and generally declining in older groups. Some comparisons are incomplete, and the statement that people aged “32 to 50” use approximately the same amount is inaccurate: the table gives ages 31–50, with 3 hours for males and 4 for females. The opening list of age groups adds little analysis. To strengthen the report, summarise the overall trends and compare the sexes across the age bands more consistently.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response follows the table from younger to older age groups, so the reader can generally follow its sequence. It also uses basic signposts such as “To commences with,” “Furthermore,” and “on the other hand.” However, the organisation is limited: the opening paragraph repeats the age categories rather than introducing a useful overview, and the main discussion is presented as one long paragraph. Some linking phrases feel mechanical or do not clearly connect the ideas, while “people between 32 to 50 are approximately same” interrupts the progression because the comparison is unclear. Group the information into a brief overview and logically organised comparisons, and use linking words only where they clarify relationships.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate the topic and make simple comparisons, including “age group,” “usage,” “comparatively,” and “reduced.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive. For example, “time spent by male and female on internet” is awkward, and “use less internet” is less precise than language describing hours of use. “Different age groups” and repeated forms of “use” also make the report sound repetitive. Aim for more accurate task-specific expressions such as “average time spent online,” “male users,” and “declined with age.” Greater precision in describing the figures would make the comparisons clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response includes simple statements and some attempts to connect clauses, and most figures remain understandable. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the report awkward. Examples include “The given table demonstrates the time spent by male and female,” “To commences with,” and “if we talk about 16 to 20 age.” There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence construction in “From 26 to 30 aged people have same time.” Practise forming complete, direct comparison sentences, checking subject–verb agreement and articles, and using accurate age-group constructions such as “people aged 26–30 spent four hours.”
