Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main pattern: usage peaks among 16–20-year-olds and generally falls in older groups, with males higher in the younger categories and females matching or exceeding them later. Several figures are accurately reported, including 19 versus 18 hours for ages 16–20 and 8 versus 6 for ages 11–15. However, coverage is incomplete: the 51+ group is omitted, and the 26–30 category is incorrectly called 26–28. The overview also says usage becomes “nearly identical” in later groups, but does not clearly summarise the full pattern across all age bands. To strengthen the response, report the final group and ensure every age range and comparison matches the table; the current selection and development of key features are limited and partly unclear.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an overview to younger groups and then adults, and phrases such as “Overall,” “Looking first,” and “Finally” help signal stages. However, progression is weakened by unclear or incomplete sentences, particularly “in contrast, the youngest group 11-15 years old” and the unfinished ending, “while women mentain…”. Some links are also awkward or inaccurate, such as “For adults over the age of 20” followed by a broad claim that does not clearly organise the figures that follow. Paragraphing is limited, and the sequence would be easier to follow if each paragraph grouped related age bands and completed each comparison. Use linking expressions sparingly and make the relationship between sentences explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of task-related vocabulary, including “average,” “demographics,” “declining,” and “downward trend,” and terms such as “online” and “internet usage” are relevant. However, frequent spelling and word-choice problems make parts difficult to understand: “categaries,” “aver eg ing,” “platau,” and “reals its lower point” appear to be intended as “categories,” “averaging,” “plateau,” and “reaches its lowest point.” Some expressions are also unnatural, including “virus age categaries,” “formal age groups,” and “spend time on the internet then there females counter parts.” Aim for accurate, conventional collocations and check spelling carefully. A smaller set of precise terms would communicate the comparisons more clearly than repeated attempts at less familiar phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
There are attempts at complex sentences, especially in the overview, where you contrast male and female patterns using “whereas.” However, many sentences contain errors in sentence construction, agreement, or punctuation that make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “internet usage dramatically in the late teenage year” lacks a main verb, while “the youngest group 11-15 years old. Regards significantly lower figures” is not a complete sentence. The clause beginning “In the 21-25” also lacks a clear grammatical structure, and the final sentence is left unfinished. Commas are sometimes misplaced, as in “in contrast ,”. Practise writing complete subject–verb sentences first, then combine them with accurate clauses; proofread each sentence to ensure it is complete and clearly punctuated.
