Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main pattern accurately: both sexes record their highest Internet use at ages 16–20, followed by 11–15, while the 51+ group records the lowest figures. You also report several values correctly, including 19 and 18 for the peak group and equal figures of 4 for ages 26–30. This gives the response a relevant overview and covers the key age groups. However, some comparisons are incomplete or unclear: for ages 31–50, the table shows 3 hours for men and 4 for women, but you only say that male use is “reduced by one.” State both figures and make the comparison explicit. A clearer overview of the general pattern across the remaining age groups would also make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing the figures. The information is generally grouped by age, and phrases such as “Overall” and “lastly” help signal progression. However, the sequence within the third paragraph is sometimes difficult to follow because several comparisons are packed into one long sentence, and the repeated “followed up by” makes the links feel mechanical. The sentence about ages 31–50 does not clearly state the female figure, weakening the connection between the data and the next point. Use shorter sentences and organise the details consistently, for example by moving from the highest-use groups to the lowest and comparing male and female figures within each group.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for describing the table, including “age group,” “highest,” “equal,” and “least amount of time,” so the topic remains clear. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “maximum time … is done by,” “candidates,” and “surffing the internet.” Repeating “group” and “spend time” also makes the description less precise. Choose standard data-reporting collocations, such as “recorded the highest average,” “users,” and “spent time online.” Check spelling carefully, particularly “surfing,” and avoid using “proportion” for figures measured in hours. More precise vocabulary would make the comparisons easier to understand and give the report a more appropriate academic style.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the overall meaning can usually be understood. However, some sentence structures are faulty, including the opening “how much time do European citizens spend,” which should be embedded as “how much time European citizens spend.” The overview also has problems with articles and agreement in “least time spend by the age group are.” In the final paragraph, “the male candidates are reduced by one” does not form a clear grammatical comparison. Punctuation and spacing are inconsistent, particularly around commas and full stops. Practise building accurate comparison sentences, such as “Men spent three hours, one hour less than women,” and check verb forms and sentence boundaries before finishing.
