Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You report all six age groups and give the male and female figures accurately, including the peak at ages 16–20 and the lowest values in the 51+ group. This covers the main data and provides a relevant overview. However, the overview is limited to identifying the highest and lowest groups; it would be stronger if it also highlighted the broad pattern, such as the sharp rise to ages 16–20 followed by a decline, and the generally small differences between sexes. The response also describes the figures as percentages, although the table gives average hours. Clarifying the unit and making a more meaningful comparison across the age groups would make the key features clearer and more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs reporting the figures. This helps the reader locate the main information, and the age groups are presented in a broadly logical order. However, progression is weakened by mechanical transitions such as “First and foremost,” “Furthermore,” “Additionally,” and “At the end,” which do not show meaningful relationships between the data. The final paragraph also reads like a list rather than a comparison. Some phrasing makes connections unclear, for example “the age of 31-50 hours spent…” A more direct sequence—grouping the peak and subsequent decline, then noting where female figures match or exceed male figures—would improve cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “average hours,” “age groups,” “highest,” and “lowest,” so the subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are repetitive or imprecise. “Hours spent on the social media” changes the task’s focus from Internet use to social media, while “highest age of male hours” does not clearly describe the highest number of hours. There are also spelling errors, including “averagre” and “eurpean,” and inconsistent capitalisation. Choose precise terms for the measure and use varied comparison language, such as “recorded,” “peaked,” or “was slightly higher than.” These changes would make the report more accurate and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts some longer sentence forms, particularly with “However” and “Furthermore,” but most reporting follows a repetitive, incomplete pattern rather than a controlled range of sentence structures. Subject–verb agreement is inaccurate in the opening: “The table illustrate” should be “The table illustrates.” Several data statements omit a clear verb or use an incomplete construction, such as “female the age of 11-15 is 6%” and “the age of 16-20 hours spent… 19%.” Articles, prepositions, and punctuation are also inconsistently handled, with spaces before full stops and commas. Build complete sentences with a clear subject and verb—for example, “Males aged 11–15 spent an average of 8 hours online”—and check agreement and sentence boundaries.
