Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main peak accurately: people aged 16–20 record the highest figures for both sexes, at 19 hours for males and 18 for females. You also note the general male advantage among younger groups and the female advantage in some older groups. However, the overview is incomplete and partly inaccurate: the minimum is in the 51+ group (2 hours for males and 3 for females), not the 31–50 group. The claim that the table covers “5 different people” is also incorrect; it presents six age groups. Several comparisons are reported, but the 51+ figures and the overall decline after ages 16–20 are omitted, leaving the summary only partially developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure, with an introduction, an overview and a paragraph of details, and the reader can generally follow the age-group comparisons. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “while” and “on the other hand” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression is uneven: the overview refers to the minimum before the detail paragraph, but gives the wrong age group, and the final sentence repeats the male–female comparison rather than completing the account of the table. Some links are awkward or unclear, particularly “as this age people spend less time” and “with a difference of 3 and 1.” Grouping the figures into younger, middle and older ages, then using clearer comparison links, would make the organisation more coherent.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “average,” “maximum,” “minimum,” “age” and “difference,” so the subject is usually clear. There are also attempts at more descriptive wording, such as “dramatically increases.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive: “usage of internet,” “spending time on internets” and “people of multiple ages” do not sound natural in this context. Spelling errors such as “demostrate,” “regadless” and “dramaticaly” are noticeable, while repeated use of “spend time” reduces precision. Use standard phrases such as “hours spent online” and “internet use,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including comparisons with “while” and “as,” but complex structures are often faulty and errors occur frequently. For example, “their ages lies” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “The people who spent maximum time … lies” combines an incorrect verb form with an awkward clause structure. In “male spent 3 hour and female spend 4 hour,” the verbs and singular/plural forms are inconsistent. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “between age of 16-20” and the long final sentence joined by several clauses. Practise building shorter, accurate comparison sentences first, then combine them with correctly formed subordinate clauses.
