Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the broad pattern that internet use peaks among 16–20-year-olds and is lowest among people aged 51+, and you include some figures for both sexes. However, the report only partially covers the table: several comparisons are missing, and the description of the 21–25 and 26–30 groups is inaccurate. For example, you say hours “dropes 15 hours” at ages 26–30, but the table gives 4 hours for males and 4 for females; the 15-hour fall is not a table value. The claim that interest begins at 11–15 is also not supported, since the table shows hours for every age group. Focus on accurately reporting the peak, the subsequent decline, and the small differences between males and females.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic overall shape, moving from an opening summary to age-group details and a concluding statement. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “while” and “At last” attempt to connect ideas. However, progression is not consistently clear: the account jumps from ages 16–20 to 26–30 without reporting the 21–25 figures, and “At last” does not clearly signal which data point follows. The final paragraph repeats the general idea of declining interest rather than adding a clear summary of the table. Use one paragraph for the overview and organise the detailed comparisons in age order, with accurate links such as “after peaking” and “in the older groups.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary, including “maximum,” “amount of time,” “inclines,” and “drop,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning difficult to follow. “Social media” is not the same as the table’s “Internet,” while “interest … begins” and “get caught up by life” are not suitable descriptions of hours spent online. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “audiance,” “leats,” “dropes,” and “interset.” Choose precise terms for the measured data, such as “average hours online,” and check spelling and natural collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a comparison with “while” and a sentence beginning “At the age of 26 to 30.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement, and punctuation frequently affect clarity. For instance, “8 hours spent by male while 6 hours by female” is a fragment; it needs a finite verb, such as “males spent 8 hours, while females spent 6.” The sentence “The number inclines … by 11 hours spent by male” is also structurally unclear. Capitalisation after full stops is inconsistent, and the final sentence lacks clear grammatical connections. Practise complete clauses and use past-tense reporting forms consistently.
