Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad pattern that internet use peaks among 16–20-year-olds and is generally lower in older groups, and you report several figures accurately, including 8 versus 6 hours for ages 11–15 and 19 versus 18 for ages 16–20. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: teenagers did not spend “almost a whole day” online, and the table gives hours without specifying that these are per day. The claim that women spend more after their thirties is only true for ages 31–50 and 51+, while the 26–30 figures are equal. The final paragraph also misstates the older-age figures. Select the main comparisons more carefully and give a precise overview supported by the table.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and paragraphs containing age-group details. This gives the reader some organisation. However, progression is uneven: the overview introduces claims that are not clearly supported, and the final paragraph returns to the general trend before presenting older-age figures in a confusing order. Linking words such as “Therefore,” “Furthermore,” and “However” are sometimes used where the relationship between ideas is not clear. The sentence beginning “It is same for girls by 50 age” is difficult to connect to the surrounding comparison. Group the figures into clear age ranges and use straightforward links to show contrasts and trends.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “time spent,” “age group,” and “average,” so the subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “women gives 6 hours on internet,” “which is hilarious,” and “decreased by growth age.” “Hilarious” also introduces an inappropriate evaluative tone for an objective report. Repetition of “spent” and “internet” further limits flexibility. Aim for neutral, precise reporting language and learn common combinations such as “spend time online,” “hours of internet use,” and “declines with age.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use basic comparison structures, but grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between figures difficult to follow. Examples include “male group use,” “men uses,” and “women gives,” where subject–verb agreement is incorrect, as well as “by the middle age” and “after thirties age,” which have faulty article and noun patterns. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly in “which is hilarious , thus female with 18 hours .” Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses. Check agreement, articles, and complete sentence structure when describing each age group.
