Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You include several figures accurately, such as 8 hours for males and 6 for females aged 11–15, and the equal 4-hour figures for ages 26–30. However, the response only partially summarises the table: the overview does not identify the clearest overall pattern, and it incorrectly suggests that the 16–20 group uses a “wide range” rather than stating that this group records the highest figures (19 and 18 hours). The final group is described as spending the least time, but its values are omitted. To strengthen the response, give a concise overview of the peak and the general decline among older groups, then report the key comparisons accurately, including the 51+ figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. It also moves broadly through the age groups in table order, which gives the reader some sense of sequence. However, progression is weakened by repeated and sometimes unclear linking phrases such as “The foremost consideration,” “Another key consideration,” and “Ultimately.” The overview repeats details that are then given again in the first body paragraph, while the sentence beginning “Moreover” does not clearly connect to the point before it. Organise the body paragraphs around the younger and older groups, avoid repeating figures, and use straightforward links such as “By contrast” or “In the oldest group” to make relationships clearer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of vocabulary, including “substantial,” “consideration,” and “minimum,” but several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing time-use data. Phrases such as “females consumed 6 hours,” “drained various hours,” “fatigue equally 4 hours,” and “occupy a minimum time” make the meaning harder to follow. The repeated use of “consideration” and “age groups people” also limits precision. Prefer standard chart language, for example, “spent,” “recorded,” “the figure,” and “hours of internet use.” This would make your descriptions more natural and help you report comparisons clearly without relying on elaborate wording that does not fit the context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple sentences and some longer constructions, but control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships difficult to understand. For example, “The table illustrate” has subject–verb disagreement, while “11 to 15 age group people includes male spent” combines incompatible sentence structures. Articles and plurals are also often missing or incorrect, as in “different age groups people” and “16-20 age groups.” Punctuation contributes to the difficulty in “internet.Conversely,” where a space is missing after the full stop. Build accurate simple comparison sentences first, such as “Males aged 11–15 spent 8 hours online, compared with 6 hours for females,” then practise adding subordinate clauses while keeping the subject and verb clear.
