Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the broad pattern that internet use is highest among people aged 16–20 and lower among older groups, which is relevant to the table. However, the overview is unclear, and the response reports only a small part of the data: it omits the figures for ages 11–15, 21–30 and 51+, as well as the overall decline after the peak. The claim that 16–20-year-olds use the internet for “playing video game and entertainment” is not supported by the table, which gives hours only. The response is also 98 words, below the required 150; the 10 words copied from the prompt are excluded. To improve, give a clear overview and compare the main figures across all age groups without adding explanations the table does not provide.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic structure, with an opening statement, an overview and a paragraph beginning “TO COMMANCE WITH,” so the reader can recognise an attempt to organise the report. However, the progression is limited: the final paragraph discusses the peak and then jumps to the 31–50 group, leaving several age bands unreported and making the comparison difficult to follow. Linking expressions such as “OVERALL” and “SIMILARLY” are attempted, but “SIMILARLY” does not clearly connect the two comparisons that follow it. Use separate, logically ordered paragraphs for the overview and key details, and group the age bands from highest to lowest or describe the trend across them.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “average hours,” “age groups,” “spent” and “individual,” and the reader can identify the general topic. However, the range is basic and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “sexual male and female,” “young adults individual” and “spent lots hours.” There are also spelling errors, including “COMMANCE,” “HOUIRS” and “MMALE,” which distract from the report. Aim for precise, neutral terms such as “men and women,” “people aged 16–20” and “spent the most time online.” Avoid adding unsupported reasons for internet use; focus vocabulary on describing figures, peaks and declines.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt an overview and longer comparison sentences, but grammatical control is inconsistent and errors often make the intended meaning difficult to follow. For example, “THE TABULAR ILLUSTRATE DATA” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “who are adults nearly 16-20 years old are spent” combines an unclear relative clause with an incorrect verb form. The sentence beginning “OVERALL” also lacks a clear grammatical structure, and the final sentence fragment does not clearly state its comparison. Most sentences rely on simple patterns or faulty combinations rather than controlled variety. Practise forming clear subject–verb sentences, for example, “Men aged 16–20 spent 19 hours online on average,” and check agreement, articles and verb forms before submitting.
