Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the main peak and low point: the 16–20 group records the highest figures, while people aged 51+ record the lowest. You also include several accurate comparisons, such as 19 hours for males versus 18 for females at ages 16–20, and equal figures of 4 for ages 26–30. However, the overview is not consistently accurate: “male spend more time” is too broad, since females exceed males in the 31–50 and 51+ groups, and the table reports Internet hours, not time on social media or levels of interest. Several age groups, especially 21–25, are omitted. Select the key patterns and describe them precisely, without adding interpretations the table cannot support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an opening, an overview, and paragraphs containing comparisons, so there is some organisation. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the overview repeats the claim that males spend more time, and the final sentence repeats it again rather than drawing together the main patterns. Linking words such as “Whereas” and “While” are used, but some connections are awkward or incomplete, making relationships between ideas harder to follow. The phrase “few of same group age recorded as lower” is also unclear as a comparison. Organise the details by meaningful age-group patterns, use complete sentences, and make each paragraph serve a distinct purpose.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “average hours,” “proportion,” “gender,” and “recorded,” and the reader can generally identify the figures being discussed. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural. “Using internet” and “less interested” do not precisely describe the table, which gives hours spent online rather than interest. Repeated use of “recorded” and “proportion” also makes the report less precise. Spelling errors such as “Althought” and “recored” are noticeable and can distract the reader. Build a more accurate range around terms such as “spent online,” “figure,” “hours,” and “exceeded,” and check spelling and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts some complex structures, including comparisons introduced by “While” and “Whereas,” but these are often faulty or incomplete. Errors occur frequently in agreement and sentence formation: “The table illustrate” needs a plural verb, while “male spend” and “female is” do not agree with their subjects. The sentence beginning “Age between the (16-20) ratio…” is difficult to parse, and punctuation around clauses is inconsistent. Articles and prepositions are also often missing or misplaced, as in “using internet in europe.” These errors sometimes make the intended relationship unclear. Practise accurate simple comparison sentences first, then combine them with subordinate clauses while checking subject–verb agreement and punctuation.
