Student answer (Band 5.5)
This table illustrates information about the average hours spent on the Internet by European people of several age groups from 11 years to 51 years plus.
Overall, it demonstrates the numbers of male and female who spent how much time in hours on the internet with their relevent age groups. We can clearly saw that the people of 16 to 20 years spent many time on the internet. Male spend 19 hours while female spent 18 hours on the internet.
To commence with, people from age 11 to 15 years spent 8 and 6 hours man and female respectively. While, 16 to 20 years people spent aproximently 18 to 19 hours. Furthermore, 21 to 25 years people spent 7 to 8 hours daily on the internet. Furthermore, people from 26 to 51+ years people spent less time on the internet.
In conclusion, people from 16 to 20 years spent most of their time on internet while 51+ people spent least time on the internet.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main pattern accurately: the 16–20 group records the highest figures, and the 51+ group the lowest. You also report the peak values correctly as 19 hours for males and 18 for females, and mention several other age groups. However, some details are unclear or imprecise: “8 and 6 hours man and female” does not clearly assign the figures, and “18 to 19 hours” reverses the table’s male–female order. The statement that older groups spent less time is relevant but underdeveloped; the table shows a small rise for females from 26–30 to 31–50, before falling again. A clearer overview and more precise comparisons across both sexes would make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview, a body paragraph and a conclusion. The reader can follow the broad progression from the highest-use age group to the older groups. However, the body does not organise the figures into clear comparisons, and the repeated “Furthermore” makes the linking mechanical rather than showing how the points relate. “While” begins a fragment after the first age-group figures, and the final sentence largely repeats the overview instead of adding a useful synthesis. Grouping the age bands into a peak group, a decline, and the older groups would create clearer progression. Use linking expressions selectively and make each paragraph serve a distinct purpose.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant task vocabulary such as “average hours,” “age groups,” and “spent,” so the topic remains understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate: “numbers of male and female” is not a natural way to describe the table, while “spent many time” and “spent most of their time” are imprecise for reporting comparative figures. There are also spelling errors, including “relevent” and “aproximently.” Aim for concise reporting language such as “males and females,” “recorded,” and “the highest average.” Varying the verbs and using accurate comparison phrases would make the description more precise and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mix of sentence forms, including a relative clause in “people of several age groups from 11 years to 51 years plus” and a contrast introduced by “while.” However, control is uneven, and some errors make relationships between figures less clear. For example, “We can clearly saw” has an incorrect verb form, and “people from age 11 to 15 years spent 8 and 6 hours” lacks a clear grammatical structure for identifying who spent each amount. “While, 16 to 20 years people…” is an incorrectly punctuated fragment, and “people from 26 to 51+ years people” repeats the subject. Practise complete comparative sentences with accurate subject–verb agreement and clear male/female subjects.
