Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main pattern: the 16–20 group records the highest figures, while people aged 51+ are among the least active. You also report many of the table’s values and compare males and females across age groups. However, the final comparison reverses the 51+ figures: the table shows 2 hours for males and 3 for females, not 3 and 2. The overview also says older people spend less time online, but the 31–50 female figure (4) is higher than the 26–30 figure (4 for both) only in comparison with males, so the trend is not fully described. To strengthen the response, give a precise overview and check every figure before reporting it.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an overview followed by paragraphs covering younger and older age groups. This helps the reader locate the main comparisons. However, progression within the body is uneven: the phrase “There are three major groups who dominated in this segment” is unclear, and the 21–25 figures are added abruptly after the 11–15 comparison. Linking expressions such as “likewise,” “followed by,” and “In contrast” are attempted, but some are awkward or do not clearly show the relationship between the figures. Improve cohesion by grouping the age bands in a consistent order and using clear comparisons, rather than relying on loosely connected clauses.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “recorded the highest,” “accounted for the lowest,” and “reducing their time online,” which helps communicate the broad patterns. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “spend online,” “dominated in this segment,” and “least active age group online.” Spelling errors, including “aberage,” “femals,” and “doen,” also make the writing less polished. Aim for precise, natural expressions for describing data, and check spelling carefully. For example, use “hours spent online” and “the group with the lowest internet use” rather than less idiomatic phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including comparisons joined with “whereas” and “followed by.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Examples include “age group16-20 recorded” (missing spacing and an article or clearer construction), “males … spend 19 hours” (tense inconsistency with the past-tense overview), and the run-on structure in “From the age of 26 people started reducing their time online.where…”. Punctuation and sentence boundaries also need attention. Use consistent past tense for the table, separate complete ideas with full stops, and check articles, agreement, and sentence structure.
