Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main pattern that the 16–20 group has the highest figures and that internet use is lower among older people. You also include several accurate comparisons, such as 19 male versus 18 female users at ages 16–20 and equal figures of 4 for ages 26–30. However, the overview is not consistently clear: calling teenagers “moderate” users and people in their twenties “least moderate” does not accurately distinguish the peak from the lower figures. Some comparisons are also imprecise or misleading. For example, the 21–25 figures are 7 and 5, while the 11–15 figures are 8 and 6, so the former are not the next-highest group. State the overall peak and the general decline with age clearly, then support them with precise comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response is divided into paragraphs and generally moves from an introduction to age-group observations and then gender comparisons. This gives it some organisation, and linking words such as “However,” “followed by,” and “even though” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, there is no consistently clear progression: the second paragraph mixes an overview with claims about teenagers and adults, while later paragraphs repeat the male–female comparison without a clear organising principle. Some connections are difficult to follow, particularly the final paragraph’s shift from the 31–50 group to the 51+ group. Group the information logically—for example, first give a concise overview, then compare the younger groups and the older groups—and use references that make each comparison explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “tabular data,” “comparison,” “age groups,” and “internet usage,” so the reader can understand the subject. However, the range is limited by repeated wording such as “peoples,” “user,” and “internet,” and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural. “Moderate user” does not clearly describe the figures, while “in the race of internet usage” is an unsuitable expression for a data report. There are also spelling errors, including “pefer,” “femlaes,” and “ration,” which reduce precision. Aim for neutral, exact language for describing data, such as “average hours,” “highest figure,” “declined,” and “gender gap,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “However” and “even though.” Nevertheless, errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to interpret. Subject–verb agreement is often incorrect: “the data … give,” “teenagers … consumes,” and “more males uses.” Other problems include missing or incorrect articles and prepositions, as in “between the age” and “belongs to the 16–20 years,” as well as faulty sentence construction in “The ratio … after the age of 30 between male and female, a difference is seen.” Use shorter, complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and article use. For example: “Among people aged 16–20, men spent 19 hours online on average, compared with 18 hours for women.”
