Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the broad pattern that internet use is highest among younger people and lower among older groups, and you include several relevant figures. However, the overview is too general, and some details are inaccurate: the peak is for both males and females aged 16–20 (19 and 18 hours), not men aged 21–25; the minimum is for males aged 51+ (2 hours), not women. The response also contains only 119 words, below the required 150, which limits how fully you can select and report the main features. Develop a clearer overview and compare the age groups accurately, including the similar figures for the oldest groups.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure, with an opening, an overview, and two detail paragraphs. Phrases such as “To begin with” and “Movingahead” attempt to guide the reader through the information. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the first detail paragraph moves from ages 11–15 to 16–20 and then makes an incorrect claim about ages 21–25, while the next paragraph repeats some comparisons without a clear organising principle. Some references, such as “both males and females,” are vague about which age group is being discussed. Group the figures in a logical order, use accurate linking phrases, and make each comparison explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary, including “age group,” “approximately,” and “interest,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are unnatural or imprecise for describing a table. For example, “time utilised” and “internet quantity” do not clearly express hours spent online, while “oldage yin” is confusing. “Maximum internet is used” also sounds awkward and does not identify the measured quantity precisely. Use straightforward, accurate terms such as “hours spent online,” “the highest figure,” and “older people.” Check spelling and spacing in phrases such as “Movingahead,” and avoid describing the figures as levels of interest when the table reports time.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You produce several simple sentences and attempt some longer structures, but grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make comparisons difficult to follow. For example, “The time utilised by both males and females were approximately same” has problems with agreement and article use; “boys of age group 11-15 had spent” uses an unsuitable tense and lacks a natural article pattern. The sentence “female had keen interest in using internet as 4 hours” is also difficult to interpret because its structure does not clearly connect the subject and figure. Use present simple forms to describe the table, check singular and plural agreement, and build comparisons with clear patterns such as “males spent X hours, compared with Y for females.”
