Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main pattern accurately: the 16–20 group records the highest figures for both sexes, while people aged 51+ spend the least time online. You also report several relevant comparisons correctly, including 19 versus 18 hours for ages 16–20, and equal figures of 4 hours for ages 26–30. This gives the response a clear overview and relevant supporting detail. However, coverage is uneven: the 31–50 figures are omitted, and the 21–25 comparison is described as a two-hour gap without giving the actual values. The overview could also state more clearly that usage generally declines after the 16–20 peak, while noting the small variation in the older groups. Select and report the key figures more systematically.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details about several age groups. Sequencing phrases such as “Overall,” “Then,” and “Additionally” help signal the stages of the description. However, progression is not consistently clear: the final paragraph moves from ages 21–25 to 26–30 and then 51+, leaving the 31–50 group unaddressed, and some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, “In the age of 16–20” and “By the age of 21–25” do not smoothly connect the comparisons. Paragraphing is present, but the information would be easier to follow if the body grouped the age bands in order and used clearer references to the male and female figures.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the subject, including “average time,” “age group,” “difference,” and “spent on the internet.” However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, such as repeated references to “spent time on internet” and “using internet.” Some word combinations are unnatural, including “the age group of female was also more” and “female category is dominant,” which make comparisons less clear. Aim for concise, conventional language for describing data, such as “recorded,” “accounted for,” and “the figure for women.” Also use “hours” consistently as the unit rather than adding unsupported wording such as “of the day.” More precise vocabulary would make the comparisons easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including comparisons joined with “while” and “but,” and the main message is generally understandable. However, errors in sentence structure and grammatical forms occur throughout. For example, “the age between 16–20 was the highest time to spent” has an unclear subject and an incorrect verb form, while “females give 6 hours” shifts tense and does not fit the past-time description. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and punctuation, as in “In 51+ age both in male and female category they had spent.” Work on forming direct comparison sentences with a clear subject, for example, “Men aged 16–20 spent 19 hours, compared with 18 hours for women.” Check sentence boundaries and spacing around punctuation as well.
