Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main pattern that the 16–20 group spends the most time online and the 51+ group the least, and you give the correct figures for these groups. You also note the equal male and female figures for ages 26–30. However, the overview is too broad: usage is not approximately the same across all age groups, since the peak of 19 and 18 hours contrasts sharply with the older groups’ much lower figures. The response also ends while describing the 21–25 group and omits the 11–15 and 31–50 figures, so the comparisons are only partly reported. Give a clearer overview of the rise to the 16–20 peak and subsequent decline, then cover the remaining age groups accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: an opening statement is followed by an overview and then details about selected age groups. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, progression is limited because the details are not presented as a complete, clearly ordered comparison, and the final sentence is cut off after “7 hours for mal”. Linking words such as “Overall”, “However” and “In contrast” are attempted, but some do not express the relationship clearly; for example, “In contrast” introduces a claim about younger people using the same hours, which is not true for all younger groups. Use a consistent age-by-age sequence, complete each comparison, and choose connectors that accurately show contrast or similarity.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses relevant topic vocabulary, including “average hours”, “age group”, “spent” and “largest”, so the general subject is understandable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are unnatural or imprecise, such as “data of groups”, “popular user of internet” and “spent time in using on internet”. Repetition of “internet” and “spent” also makes the description less flexible. There are spelling errors, including “gerneration”, and some word forms are unsuitable, such as “male and female citizen” when referring to groups. Aim for concise, conventional data-reporting language and vary expressions for time and usage; for example, describe figures as hours people “spend online” or “internet use”.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more developed sentences, including a subordinate clause in “Teenagers which lies between 16-20 age of people who spent large hours on internet”. However, sentence structures are often faulty, and errors can make relationships difficult to follow. For example, “The table provides the data of groups with different age” has problems with articles, number and sentence construction, while “male and female of all age of group” shows repeated agreement and plural errors. The final sentence is incomplete, and punctuation between some ideas is weak. Practise building accurate sentences with a clear subject and verb, such as “People aged 16–20 spent the most time online.” Check agreement, articles and plural forms, and ensure every sentence is complete.
