Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the table’s subject and report several accurate figures, including the peak for ages 16–20 (19 hours for males and 18 for females) and the low figures among people aged 51 and over. However, the response is under-developed: it omits the 26–30 figures and does not clearly compare the sexes across the age groups. The conclusion that people “lose his /her interesting” is not a clear, data-based overview; the main pattern is that internet use peaks at 16–20 and generally declines with age, with small differences between males and females. The response also contains 114 words, below the required 150, which limits how fully the task is addressed. Add a concise overview and develop the key comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic sequencing: you move through age groups and use phrases such as “next,” “As age increases,” and “in concolsion” to signal progression. However, the response reads largely as one continuous paragraph, without a clear overview followed by organised details. Several transitions are repetitive or do not accurately connect the information; for example, “As age increases mean 21-25” is difficult to follow, and the move from ages 31–50 to 51+ is abrupt. Group the figures into a clear overview and one or two detail paragraphs, and use linking phrases to show comparisons rather than simply announce the next age group. This would make the progression easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses a small set of relevant terms, including “average hours,” “age group,” and “screen time,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, vocabulary is limited and repetitive, and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear. For instance, “hours sent in internet” does not naturally describe time spent online, while “people lose his /her interesting” does not express the intended trend clearly. There are also spelling errors such as “concolsion” and “counties.” Use precise language for describing data, such as “spent online,” “rose to a peak,” and “declined with age.” Check spelling and choose standard expressions for internet use and comparisons.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example, “As age increases mean 21-25,” but the response relies mainly on simple structures and these longer attempts are often difficult to interpret. Errors in sentence formation, verb forms, and agreement occur frequently: “male or female is 18 hours” and “people lose his /her” do not form accurate grammatical patterns. Punctuation and spacing are also inconsistent, making sentence boundaries unclear. Practise writing short, complete comparisons first, such as “Males aged 16–20 spent 19 hours online, compared with 18 hours for females.” Then vary the structures carefully, checking that each sentence has a clear subject and verb and that pronouns agree with their nouns.
