Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You identify two relevant headline features: the 16–20 group records the highest figures for both sexes, and the 51+ group the lowest. However, the response is far too brief to summarise the table adequately: it contains 51 words, below the required 150, and nine words copied from the prompt are excluded from that count. No specific figures are reported, and the comparisons are incomplete. For example, males exceed females in the first three age groups, the figures are equal at ages 26–30, and females are higher in both older groups. Develop an overview and support it with selected values, such as 19 versus 18 for ages 16–20 and 2 versus 3 for those aged 51+.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic, understandable structure: an opening sentence introduces the table, followed by an overview beginning with “Overall.” This gives the reader a clear starting point and keeps the limited content focused on the data. However, there is no developed progression beyond these two sentences, and the table’s age groups are not organised into comparisons or described in a logical sequence. The phrase “except in the older age groups” is also broad, leaving the reader to infer which groups are meant. To make the organisation clearer, use separate paragraphs for the overview and key details, then group the age bands and connect comparisons explicitly with phrases such as “by contrast” and “whereas.”

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “average hours,” “internet,” “age group,” “genders,” and “highest” and “lowest,” so the general subject is clear. However, the range is narrow because the response is very short, and several word choices or forms are inaccurate: “hours spend” should be “hours spent,” while “number of people” does not describe the table, which reports hours. “Slightly highest” is also an unnatural comparison. Aim for precise data-reporting language, such as “recorded,” “spent,” “figure,” and “was higher than.” Check spelling carefully as well: “yhe” appears in place of “the.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response includes a few complete sentence patterns, including a complex overview sentence with “while” and a contrast introduced by “except.” These structures help communicate the main points. However, grammatical control is uneven even in this short response. In the opening, “The table illustrates the information thatbabout…” contains an extra, misplaced element, and “by European people of different age group” has an incorrect singular form. In the overview, “the 51+age group” needs spacing, and “the number of males is slightly highest than females” has an incorrect comparative construction. Use accurate forms such as “people in different age groups” and “the male figure is higher than the female figure.”
