Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main pattern that internet use is highest among younger people and lowest among older people, and you support this with several accurate comparisons: for example, men aged 16–20 record 19 hours versus 18 for women, while the 21–25 figures are 7 and 5. However, the overview is broad and the report does not clearly summarise the full pattern across all age groups. The final sentence is cut off after “the lea…”, so the figures for people aged 51 and over are not reported, and the equal figures for 26–30-year-olds are also omitted. Some descriptions, such as “young people,” could be more precise about which age bands are being compared. Select the key extremes and notable similarities, then report them completely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic structure: an introduction and overview are followed by comparisons between age groups. Linking expressions such as “In addition,” “Moreover,” and “Meanwhile” show an attempt to connect information. However, progression is not consistently clear: “Turning back to 31–50 age group” is an awkward transition, and the final sentence stops before completing the point. Several sentences begin with “where” or “age group,” creating repetitive patterns rather than a smooth sequence. Group the figures into a clear order—for example, peak use, middle age groups, then the oldest groups—and use concise comparisons to guide the reader. A complete final paragraph or sentence would also make the report feel finished.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “highest figure,” “second greatest number,” and “dominated,” and the intended comparisons are generally understandable. There is also an attempt to vary wording with phrases such as “witnessed” and “depicted.” However, several choices are unnatural or imprecise for describing a table: “using internet on hourly basis,” “largest figure,” and “witnessed least hour with internet” do not sound idiomatic. “Internernet” is misspelled, and “man and women” is an inaccurate form. These errors make the wording less clear and controlled. Prefer direct, precise expressions such as “hours spent online,” “the highest average,” and “the figure for women,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some complex sentence forms, including comparisons with “where” and “in contrast,” but control is inconsistent. Errors occur in agreement and sentence construction, as in “both category” and “young people recorded the highest figure,” where the relationship between the subject and the comparison is unclear. The opening phrase “In terms of men, where…” creates a fragment-like structure, while “in contrast with female, this figure recorded…” lacks a clear grammatical subject. Articles and plurals are also often missing, as in “age group from 11-15” and “least hour.” Punctuation spacing is uneven. Build shorter, complete sentences first, then add accurate comparison clauses; check subject–verb agreement, articles, and plural forms.
