Student answer (Band 5.0)

The above table shows the ratio of the average European people of different age groups spending hours on internet .

Firstly, there are 3 different tables with different characters although connects the same information. The first table assist to show different age group . Lowest age is 11 vice versa highest age is 51+ which makes the information more clear .

Secondly, the second table give access of the male number showing most of the man from 16 to 20 use internet than rest of them and the least using population is 51+ age group males.

Thirdly, the last ot the third table suggest us to view female population using internet where the results clearly shows 16 to 20 age group women use more internet than rest and least using group is 51+ .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify a relevant overall pattern: the 16–20 group has the highest figures for both sexes, and internet use is lowest among people aged 51 and over. However, the response reports very little of the table’s actual information and does not make the key comparisons clear. It incorrectly describes the data as “3 different tables”; there is one table with age groups and male and female columns. The conclusion that the figures are “cooperative” is unclear and does not summarise a specific comparison. To make the report more complete, give representative figures—for example, 19 hours for males and 18 for females aged 16–20—and describe how the sexes compare in other age groups, including where their figures are equal.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic sequence, using “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “Thirdly,” and “In conclusion,” and the reader can follow that you discuss the age groups and then male and female use. However, this structure is mechanical and does not create a clear progression through the main features of the data. The repeated references to “the first table,” “the second table,” and “the last” also confuse the organisation because the visual contains one table. The final sentence does not clearly connect to the preceding observations. Organise the response into a short introduction, an overview of the main pattern, and paragraphs comparing the figures by age group; use linking phrases to show contrasts rather than simply numbering points.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

Your vocabulary is basic and repetitive, with repeated use of “table,” “age group,” and “use internet.” Some choices make the intended meaning difficult to understand: “ratio” does not accurately describe the hours shown, “different characters” is unclear, and “the number is cooperative to each other” does not express a recognisable comparison. There are also awkward combinations such as “least using population.” These limitations fit a response where vocabulary is only minimally adequate and errors can strain the reader. Use precise terms for the data and comparisons, such as “average hours,” “highest figure,” “lowest usage,” and “similar.” Practising common Task 1 collocations will help you describe numerical patterns more clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt several sentence forms, including clauses with “although” and “where,” and the main points are generally recoverable. However, errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur throughout. For example, “the second table give” should use a singular verb, while “the results clearly shows” has a plural subject with a singular verb. In “the first table assist to show different age group,” the verb form and plural marking are also inaccurate. Some sentences are incomplete or awkwardly joined, particularly “Lowest age is 11 vice versa highest age is 51+.” Aim first for accurate, complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, then add more complex structures. Check agreement, articles, and punctuation when editing.
