Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You report most of the table’s figures accurately, including the peak for males aged 16–20 (19 hours), the matching four-hour figures for ages 26–30, and the lowest male figure for those aged 51+ (2 hours). However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: the table measures Internet use, not time spent on social networking sites, and it gives hours rather than numbers of people. The main pattern—that use peaks among 16–20-year-olds and then generally declines with age—is not clearly summarised. Your response mainly lists individual figures, with limited synthesis of the comparisons. To strengthen the report, give a precise overview of the age pattern and the small differences between males and females, then select key figures to support it.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure: an introduction and overview are followed by details for the age groups, and sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “In addition” help signal progression. However, the overview does not clearly guide the reader, and the body reads mostly as a sequence of figures rather than grouped comparisons. Some linking is mechanical, while punctuation attached to transitions—for example, “Overall, the” and “To begin with,11-15”—makes the flow harder to follow. Group the peak and subsequent decline together, and compare male and female figures within each group. Clear paragraph breaks and more precise referencing would make the organisation easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant basic terms such as “average,” “age group,” and “hours,” and the reader can generally identify the comparisons you intend. However, vocabulary is repetitive and several choices misrepresent the data or sound unnatural. “Social networking sites” is not what the table measures, while “spent their time by using internet” and “gave 18 hours” are awkward collocations. Phrases such as “female teams” and “Men individuals” also reduce clarity. Aim for concise, accurate reporting language, using “Internet use,” “spent online,” and “recorded” or “used” consistently. Check spelling and word forms, including “fromm,” and avoid switching between “women,” “female,” and “female individuals” without a clear reason.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences with contrast, such as the comparison beginning “While 26-30 years old male and female…,” and most figures remain understandable. However, the range is limited, and attempts to combine clauses often produce faulty structures. For example, “Overall, the largest and the lowest number of people spent their time…” lacks a clear grammatical relationship, while “female from 31-50 years old teams also used” has problems with number and sentence construction. Articles, plurals, and prepositions are also inconsistent, as in “from various age groups” and “from 51 and more age.” Punctuation spacing is frequently missing. Practise accurate comparative sentences, such as “Men aged 16–20 spent 19 hours online, compared with 18 hours for women,” before adding more complex clauses.
