Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response identifies the table’s subject and includes some accurate figures, such as the male and female values for ages 11–15 and 16–20. However, it only minimally summarises the data: there is no clear, accurate overview of the main pattern, and several comparisons are incomplete or misleading. For example, “above 21 only 16 male as well as female” does not explain that the figures are separate age groups, while the table shows values for each group from 21–25 through 51+. The claims about college students, work, parenting and children’s knowledge are not supported by the table. Focus on the age-and-gender figures, highlight the peak at 16–20 and the general decline in older groups, and avoid adding explanations the data cannot establish.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is an attempt to organise the response into paragraphs, and words such as “Overall” and “However” signal relationships between ideas. Nevertheless, the progression is difficult to follow: the overview does not state a clear main pattern, and the final paragraph shifts from table data to unsupported explanations about adults’ work and children. Some linking is also unclear, as in “With the begin” and “as compaire to teen more attract in those age.” Group the information into a clear overview followed by comparisons of the age bands, and use linking words only where the relationship is clear. This would make the organisation more coherent and reduce the effort required to understand the comparisons.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses a basic set of words related to the topic, including “age,” “males,” “females” and “internet,” so the general subject is recognisable. However, vocabulary is repetitive and often inaccurate or unnatural, which strains communication. Phrases such as “uses of internet spend hours on screan time,” “are lead it,” and “more attract” do not express the intended data comparisons clearly. There are also spelling errors, including “compaire” and “collage.” Use precise table-reporting language and check word forms and spelling. For example, describe figures as “hours spent online” and say that usage “peaked” among people aged 16–20 rather than describing them as “more attract.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple and longer sentences, including a contrast introduced by “However” and a clause beginning “even though.” However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors frequently make relationships between ideas unclear. Examples include “The table compare” and “the table give,” where subject–verb agreement is incorrect, and “19 males and 18 female,” where the plural form is needed. Sentence construction is also faulty in “the age of 16-20 19 males and 18 female as compaire to teen more attract in those age.” Aim first for accurate, complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then practise combining them with controlled comparison clauses. Check agreement, articles, plurals and punctuation when editing.
