Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main pattern accurately: the 16–20 group records the highest figures for both sexes, while the 51+ group records the lowest, and you report the values for all six age bands. The comparisons between sexes are also generally correct, including the equal figure of 4 hours for ages 26–30 and the female lead in the two oldest groups. However, the overview is partly unclear and repeats the idea that the table gives information rather than summarising the key pattern. The opening also calls the subject “social media,” although the table concerns Internet use. To strengthen the response, make the overview more precise and highlight the sharp peak at 16–20 followed by a decline across the older groups.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs reporting figures. The age groups are mostly presented in a sensible order, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Furthermore,” and “whilst” help connect information. However, the overview repeats the introduction rather than clearly synthesising the data, and some transitions make the sequence of comparisons feel mechanical. For example, “the second highest” and “stood at third in number” are used to rank groups, but the paragraphing does not consistently group the figures into a clear pattern. Improve progression by organising the details around the peak and subsequent decline, then noting the small differences between males and females.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for describing data, including “highest,” “second highest,” “remained the same,” and “as compared to.” These choices make the main comparisons understandable. However, several phrases are imprecise or unnatural, such as “age group individuals,” “ratio of using internet,” and “the highest users of internet was.” “Social media” is also not an accurate substitute for Internet use in this task. Repetition of “used” and “stood” limits the range of reporting language. Aim for precise collocations such as “average time spent online,” “recorded,” and “the figure for,” while keeping the terminology consistent with the table.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “whilst” and a clause beginning “where.” The meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in agreement and sentence construction occur in several places. For example, “the table depict” should be “the table depicts,” and “The highest users … was” has a mismatch between the plural subject and verb. The sentence beginning “Overall” also combines ideas in a way that makes the structure difficult to follow. Some article and plural choices are inaccurate, as in “the male are less in number.” Work on building complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check agreement and punctuation when joining comparisons.
