Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You identify the table’s subject and report some accurate figures for the 11–15 and 16–20 groups, including the higher male figures in both. However, the response covers only two of the six age groups and gives no overall summary of the main pattern, such as the peak at ages 16–20 and the general decline among older groups. The task is also substantially underdeveloped: the required minimum is 150 words, while this response contains 76 words (with 16 prompt words excluded from the count). To improve, include a concise overview and compare the remaining age groups, selecting the most notable similarities and differences.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the table, then describes the first two age groups. Phrases such as “It first glance” and “We can seen that from the table” attempt to guide the reader, but the progression stops before the other age groups are discussed, so the report does not develop into a complete, logically organised summary. The two data points in the second group are joined with “and,” but the relationship between the comparisons could be clearer. Organise the report into an introduction, an overview, and one or two paragraphs comparing the age groups. Use linking expressions selectively to show contrasts and trends rather than repeating introductory phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “average hours,” “age groups,” and “use internet,” and the intended comparisons are generally understandable. However, the range is narrow and several word choices or spellings reduce accuracy: “internate” and “femal” are misspelled, while “the year of 11 to 15” is an awkward way to refer to an age band. “European male people” is also unnatural; “European men” or “male users” would be more suitable. Aim for precise, natural language for describing data, such as “spend,” “record,” “figure,” and “compared with.” Check spelling carefully and avoid repeating the same basic phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to form longer sentences and make comparisons, but control is uneven. For example, “The given table illustrate” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “We can seen that … use internet male are 19 hours” has an incorrect verb form and an incomplete sentence structure. Articles and sentence boundaries are also problematic in “It first glance,it can be seen,” where punctuation is missing and the opening phrase is not grammatically formed. Most sentences follow a simple pattern, so there is little evidence of accurate structural variety. Practise clear comparison sentences, for example: “Men aged 11–15 spent eight hours online, compared with six hours for women.” Check agreement, verb forms, and punctuation when editing.
