Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad pattern that internet use is highest among younger people and lower among older groups, and you report several figures accurately, including 8 and 6 hours for ages 11–15 and 19 and 18 for ages 16–20. However, the summary is only partial: the 21–25 group, which is an important decline after the peak, is omitted. The overview also says males are more connected, although females record higher figures in the 31–50 and 51+ groups, and the 26–30 figures are equal. The claim that older people use less because devices are difficult to use is not shown by the table. Focus on the data and give a balanced overview of the peak, decline, and gender differences.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure, with an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing age groups. This gives the reader a general route through the information. However, progression is uneven: the 21–25 group is skipped, and the final paragraph adds an unsupported explanation about device use rather than completing a systematic comparison. Linking phrases such as “To begin with” and “Now” help signal movement, but they are somewhat mechanical and do not always clarify how the figures relate. Organise the body in a consistent sequence across all age bands, and use comparisons to connect adjacent groups—for example, showing the sharp fall from ages 16–20 to 21–25.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “age group,” “consume,” and “hours,” so the main topic is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or informal for an academic data summary. “Obsessed” and “strongly obsessive” overstate what the figures show, while “wastes 19 hours” is both an unsuitable collocation and a misleading description of time spent. There are also spelling errors such as “genration,” “youngesters,” and “defficult.” Aim for neutral, precise language to describe the data, and check spelling and word forms carefully. Repeating “use internet” can also be replaced with more varied expressions such as “spend time online.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the reader can usually understand the intended comparisons. However, the range is limited, and errors recur in sentence construction and verb forms. For example, “female use about 6 hours” needs plural agreement or an article, while “the age group from 31 to 50 using internet” is missing a finite verb. The sentence beginning “the people of age between 16 to 20” also has an awkward grammatical pattern, and “more then 51 male use” contains agreement and comparative-form problems. Practise accurate structures such as “People aged 16–20 spent…” and “Among those aged 51 and over, men spent…”. Use full, well-controlled sentences for each comparison.
