Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main pattern accurately: the 16–20 group records the highest figures for both sexes, while the 51+ group records the lowest, and you report most values correctly. The comparison between males and females is also relevant. However, the opening misdescribes the table as showing “total time is lost in mobile,” and the overview repeats explanations about technology knowledge, work and responsibility that the table does not provide. Some comparisons are less fully developed: for example, you could clearly summarise that males record higher use in most age groups, while the 26–30 figures are equal and females are slightly higher in the two older groups. Focus on reporting the data rather than speculating about causes.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure, moving through the younger age groups, then older groups, and ending with an overview. This gives the reader a general sense of progression, and phrases such as “Whereas” and “Overall” help signal relationships. However, the organisation is weakened by long, crowded sentences that combine several age groups and comparisons, while the overview repeats points already made in the body. Some linking is mechanical, particularly repeated use of “This data illustrates,” and punctuation sometimes makes boundaries between ideas unclear. Group the figures into clearer paragraphs and use one concise overview to highlight the peak, the decline with age, and the small gender differences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary, including “age group,” “hours a day,” “connected to internet,” and “illustrates,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or informal expressions reduce precision. “Use their internet” and “use less mobile” are not natural ways to describe the table; “spend fewer hours online” would be clearer. There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, such as “conected,” “middel,” “olderly,” and “responsiblity.” Repeated references to “mobile,” “phone,” and “internet” could be replaced with more precise terms such as “internet use” or “online time.” Avoid unsupported claims about technology knowledge, which also make the vocabulary less appropriate for a data summary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the reader can usually understand the comparisons. However, some sentence structures are faulty, especially where clauses are joined without clear punctuation: “teenagers are the most internet user with male use around 19 hours a day” is difficult to follow. There are also errors in articles, agreement, and verb forms, as in “the age of 21 to 25 use less mobile” and “teenager are the most.” Comparatives are sometimes formed incorrectly, for example “females are slight lower” and “1 less then males.” Use a consistent pattern such as “Males aged 16–20 spent 19 hours online, compared with 18 hours for females,” and check sentence boundaries, agreement, and comparative forms.
