Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main pattern accurately: people aged 16–20 record the highest figures for both sexes, while those aged 51 and over record the lowest. Several comparisons are also correct, including the 11–15 and 26–30 groups and the female figure being higher among 31–50-year-olds. However, the report is only partly developed: it omits the 21–25 figures, and it gives no clear overview of the broader decline after the 16–20 peak. The opening also repeats the task rather than introducing the data clearly. To strengthen the response, summarise the overall pattern and select the most useful comparisons, including the 21–25 group, rather than listing figures in a repetitive sequence.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic structure, with an opening overview followed by a paragraph of age-group details, and the reader can generally follow the order of the figures. However, progression is limited because the body moves through groups without grouping related trends or explaining how they compare. Linking phrases such as “On the one hand,” “Furthermore,” “Moreover,” and “To begin with” are repetitive or do not show a clear relationship between the points. The sentence beginning “In addition to this” also repeats the same pattern rather than advancing the comparison. Organise the details into clearer comparisons—for example, the peak and subsequent decline, then the smaller differences between males and females—and use fewer, more precise transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses enough basic vocabulary to communicate the topic and some comparisons, including “average hours,” “same time,” and “less time.” However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or unnatural, such as “time spent on internet” and “people which people.” The wording “less time consume on internet” is difficult to interpret, and “age catagory” contains a spelling error. These choices sometimes make the report less clear, even though the main figures can usually be understood. Aim for accurate, concise expressions used in data reports, such as “spent online,” “recorded,” and “the lowest figure,” and vary the language used to compare the age groups.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both an overview and longer sentences containing comparisons, but control of sentence structure is weak and errors occur throughout. For example, “The given table illustrate” has subject–verb disagreement, while “which hours do european people spent” uses an incorrect question structure and verb form. Several sentences lack clear grammatical connections, particularly “16 to 20 years old male and female have time male have 19 hours…” The response also has inconsistent sentence boundaries and spacing, making some ideas harder to follow. Practise building accurate simple sentences first—for example, “Males aged 16–20 spent 19 hours online”—then combine them with controlled comparison clauses. Check agreement, articles, and punctuation when editing.
