Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the main peak correctly: the 16–20 group records the highest figures, at 19 hours for males and 18 for females, and you note that the 51+ group is lowest. However, the response only partly reports the table’s key information and includes a significant misreading: for ages 11–15 and 21–25, you say males total 15 and females 11, whereas the figures are 15 and 11 across both groups combined, not within each group. The table gives hours by age and sex, not numbers of people, so descriptions such as “37 people” are inaccurate. The overview also says older people are least “in numbers,” which does not clearly describe the hours shown. Report the units accurately and compare the age-group figures directly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs reporting figures for younger and older age groups. This makes the information reasonably easy to follow. You also use basic linking expressions such as “Overall,” “According to these,” and “The least.” However, progression is weakened when the figures are grouped together without clearly distinguishing the male and female values for each age band. “While” begins a fragment-like contrast after the overview, and “According to these” does not clearly refer to a specific comparison. Use clearer transitions and organise the details consistently—for example, report each age band with its male and female hours, then summarise the overall gender pattern.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the general subject, including “age groups,” “average,” “spent,” and “internet.” However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, particularly “average amount of time/hours” and “number of people.” This repetition also makes the description less precise, since the table reports hours rather than counts of people. Some word choices and collocations are awkward, such as “old age group,” “least in numbers,” and “spent an average hours.” Spelling errors including “differnet,” “avergae,” and “sof” are noticeable. Aim for concise, accurate terms such as “average hours,” “the oldest age group,” and “recorded,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response uses mostly simple sentence patterns, with a few attempts to link ideas through clauses, as in “out of which 19 are male and 18 female.” These attempts show some range, but control is inconsistent. The opening sentence lacks a clear grammatical structure (“the number of European people … spent”), and “While, the old age group are…” is not a complete, well-formed contrast. There are also errors in articles, agreement, and plurals, for example “had a average,” “male are 15 in number,” and “12 peoples.” The final sentence, “They are just 5 out of which 3 are female,” leaves the reference of “They” unclear. Practise accurate sentence frames for describing table data and use complete, correctly punctuated sentences.
