Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main pattern that the 16–20 group records the highest figures for both sexes and that the oldest group spends the least time online. However, some comparisons are inaccurate or unclear: for ages 51+, the figures are 2 hours for males and 3 for females, not “about 3 and 3”; and the 26–30 figures are equal at 4, while the 31–50 figures are 3 and 4. The claim that males spend more than females is not true across all age groups. The overview also says “under 21,” which combines groups with quite different figures. To make the summary more complete, report the units as hours and compare the main peaks, declines and exceptions accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview and two body paragraphs. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Regarding” and “However” help signal the stages of the report. Nevertheless, progression within the body paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several age groups and comparisons are compressed into long, unclear sentences. For example, “male member were remain decreased from the age between 21 to above 51 years” does not clearly explain the sequence of figures. The contrast introduced by “However” is also not fully developed, and the final sentence repeats the point about equal figures without clearly identifying the age range. Organise the details in a consistent age order and use clearer references to each group.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt a range of task-related vocabulary, including “dominant figure,” “considerable number” and “relative stable,” and the reader can generally identify that the response concerns internet use by age and sex. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning hard to interpret. Phrases such as “European individuals … consume their average hours,” “19 member,” and “lower people” do not describe hours naturally. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “Additonally” and “odler,” and repeated use of “member” where the data are hours. Aim for precise, familiar reporting language such as “spent,” “recorded” and “figure,” and check spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a comparison with “in contrast” and a sentence beginning “However.” However, many sentences contain errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction, which can make the relationships between ideas difficult to understand. For instance, “they consume significant amount” needs a suitable past-tense verb and article, while “male member were remain decreased” combines incompatible verb forms. The opening sentence also lacks a clear grammatical structure, and “female who were between 31-50 years old, they…” uses an unnecessary repeated subject. Practise building accurate sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use the past tense consistently to report the table.
