Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main pattern accurately: the 16–20 group records the highest figures for both sexes (19 and 18 hours), while the 51+ group records the lowest (2 and 3). You also report the values for all six age groups correctly, so the response is relevant and covers the data. However, the overview is repeated in the second and third paragraphs, and the comparisons are mostly presented as a list rather than highlighting broader patterns—for example, that usage generally falls after the 16–20 peak, with a small difference between sexes in most groups. The opening also does not clearly establish that the figures are average hours. A concise overview followed by grouped comparisons would make the key features clearer and more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, a summary of the highest and lowest groups, and a paragraph reporting the remaining figures. This gives the reader a workable route through the information. However, the overview is repeated almost verbatim, with the 16–20 and 51+ groups described as highest and lowest in both the second and third paragraphs. Linking words such as “Whereas” and “while” help connect comparisons, but the sequence within the final paragraph moves between age groups without a clear organising principle. Grouping the younger ages together and then the older ages, and avoiding repeated points, would create more consistent progression and cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “average time,” “spend,” “hours,” and “age group,” and the reader can generally understand the intended comparisons. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “Europian,” “summerizes,” and “onlione” are incorrect, while “stats” is informal for an academic report. Phrases such as “in contradiction to this” and “least spending hours” are also unnatural. Use precise reporting language such as “the table shows,” “recorded,” and “spent the fewest hours.” Check spelling carefully and avoid repeating “the ones who spend” when a concise phrase such as “had the highest usage” would be clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of sentence forms, including comparisons with “while” and “whereas,” and the main figures remain understandable. However, control is uneven, particularly in longer sentences. For example, “The adults under 31-50 age group spends 3 hours by male and 4 hours by female” has an unclear subject and incorrect agreement; “people … are the ones with least spending hours” also has an awkward grammatical construction. Articles and number forms are sometimes missing or inconsistent, as in “the old age 51+ age people” and “8 hours males and 6 hours female.” Aim for simpler, complete structures such as “Men aged 31–50 spent three hours, compared with four hours for women,” then check agreement, articles, and plural forms.
