Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the broad pattern that internet use is highest among the youngest adult group and lowest among older people, and you include several relevant figures. However, the response addresses the task only partially: the overview is imprecise, and the final phrase, “Remaing others,” leaves the account unfinished. Some comparisons are also unclear or inaccurate. For example, ages 21–25 recorded 7 hours for males and 5 for females, while ages 26–30 recorded 4 for both; saying the former showed “slightly more interest” does not clearly report this distinction. The figures are hours, not percentages, so “19%” and “18%” misrepresent the data. The response is 112 words, below the required 150. Develop a complete summary with accurate units and the main gender and age comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview and a body paragraph, which gives the response some organisation. The opening “Overall” also signals an attempt to distinguish the main pattern from details. However, progression is limited, and the body does not systematically compare the age groups. The sentence beginning “It can be seen that the age of groups…” is difficult to follow, while “Remaing others” is an incomplete fragment that abruptly ends the report. Connections such as “whereas” and “which” are attempted, but they do not consistently make relationships clear. Group the figures into a logical sequence—for example, peak usage, the decline across younger groups, then the older groups—and use complete sentences to connect each comparison.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “age groups,” “popular,” “spent,” and “interest,” and you attempt to vary your wording rather than repeat the table labels throughout. However, the range is limited and several choices or forms are inaccurate enough to make the meaning less clear. “Information of spending hours” is an awkward collocation, “vast hours” does not naturally describe the figures, and “remaind” and “Remaing” are misspelled. “Popularity about the internet” is also an imprecise way to describe time spent online. Use standard data-reporting language such as “spent,” “recorded,” “stood at,” and “declined,” and ensure that vocabulary accurately describes hours rather than popularity or percentages.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “whereas” and a relative clause beginning “which was.” However, control is inconsistent, and several sentence structures are faulty or incomplete. For example, “the age of groups is 11 to 15 male citizen spent…” lacks a workable grammatical structure, and “They spent same hours(4%) limit for both sex” has problems with articles, number agreement and sentence construction. The final fragment is not a complete sentence. The sentence about the 16–20 group also needs a clear subject and verb. Practise building accurate comparison sentences with a subject, verb and correctly formed clause, and check articles, plurals and punctuation around brackets.
