Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main pattern accurately: the 16–20 group records the highest figures for both sexes, while the 51+ group has the lowest, and you report all six age bands with the correct values. The overview also notes that men generally spend more time online, although this needs qualification: women exceed men in the 31–50 and 51+ groups, and the sexes are equal at 26–30. Your account is relevant and covers the table, but some comparisons are presented as a sequence of figures rather than being selected and synthesised. For a stronger response, make the overall gender pattern more precise and group the age bands to highlight the sharp peak at 16–20 and the subsequent decline.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and a body that moves through the age groups. This makes the information generally easy to follow. You use signposts such as “Overall,” “Furthermore” and “At last,” but the progression is somewhat mechanical, and the final paragraph becomes a long chain of comparisons joined by “and.” Some references are also unclear, as in “this is the least age to spend time online,” which seems to refer to the 51+ group rather than an age itself. Improve cohesion by grouping related age bands into paragraphs and using clearer comparison links, such as “By contrast” or “In both older groups.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the table, including “age group,” “online” and “spend time,” but the range is limited and several expressions are unnatural or repetitive. For example, “provides the knowledge about” is not an appropriate way to introduce a table, while “invest same time” and “least age to spend time online” do not express the intended comparisons naturally. Repeated use of “spend time on internet” also makes the report less precise. Aim for standard data-reporting phrases such as “shows,” “recorded,” “spent,” and “the lowest figure,” and use “the internet” consistently. These changes would make your descriptions clearer and more idiomatic.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the reader can usually understand the comparisons. However, control is uneven, particularly in longer sentences that combine several figures. For example, “the people of age 16-20 spend alot of time online which includes that male spend 19 hours” has problems with clause structure and verb forms; “people of age 51+ male included 2 hours” is also grammatically unclear. There are recurring issues with articles, agreement and sentence boundaries, as in “on internet” and “men spend” when describing past data. Use past-tense reporting consistently (“spent,” “recorded”), and separate each comparison into a complete, well-formed sentence.
