Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main pattern accurately: the 16–20 group records the highest figures for both sexes, while the 51+ group has the lowest. You also include several relevant comparisons, such as 19 versus 18 hours for ages 16–20 and equal figures of 4 hours for men and women aged 26–30. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate. The sentence about “males in their late 20s aged between 21-25 and 26-30” mislabels the 21–25 group, and the statement that women aged 21–30 share the same number of hours overlooks the difference between 5 and 4. The overview could also summarise the general decline after ages 16–20 more clearly. Prioritise accurate, clearly grouped comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate discussion of male and female figures. This gives the reader a coherent overall arrangement, and words such as “followed by” and “while” help signal comparisons. However, progression within the detail paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow. For example, the male figures are described in an order that shifts between age groups, and the final sentence combines several female comparisons without clearly separating them. Some linking is also mechanical, particularly repeated uses of “while” and “additionally.” Organise each sex’s figures consistently from youngest to oldest, and use shorter sentences to distinguish the main comparisons. Clearer reference to age groups would also prevent ambiguity.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of vocabulary for describing the table, including “average time,” “highest,” “reduction,” and “consumed.” These choices show an attempt to vary wording rather than repeat “hours” throughout. However, several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural for this task, such as “contributed 8 hours from their time on social media,” “took the smallest portion,” and “remained on the third number of internet users.” “Internet sources” also does not accurately describe time spent using the Internet. Spelling errors, including “wherase,” “repectively,” and “consitiute,” further reduce precision. Prefer direct, conventional collocations such as “spent eight hours online” and “recorded the lowest figure,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including comparisons with “while” and clauses such as “which is the highest number.” However, control is inconsistent, and several sentence structures are faulty or difficult to interpret. For example, “The girls ranges 16-20 used internet 18 hours” has problems with subject–verb agreement and sentence construction, while “the mid age women ranges from 21-30 shares same number” contains agreement and article errors. Capitalisation after full stops is also inconsistent, as in “overall” and “while.” Use a clear subject–verb pattern for each figure, such as “Women aged 16–20 spent 18 hours online,” and check agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries. More accurate control of these forms would make your comparisons easier to understand.
