Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You report the figures for both sexes across all six age groups, and the main peak is correctly identified: males aged 16–20 record 19 hours and females 18. However, the overview is repetitive and does not clearly summarise the broader pattern that usage generally declines with age after this peak. The comparison that males spend more time in most groups, while females are slightly higher in the 31–50 and 51+ groups, is also not drawn out. Some wording makes the data difficult to interpret, such as “highest range” and “biggest rank.” The response is 144 words, six short of the 150-word minimum; develop the overview and comparisons to meet the requirement and address the task more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic, useful structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for male and female figures. This makes the information broadly easy to locate. However, progression is limited because the overview repeats the peak-age point rather than setting out the overall pattern, and the body paragraphs mainly list values in sequence. Linking is often mechanical or unclear: “likewise,” “similarly,” and “rest” do not always show the precise relationship between the figures. Punctuation spacing also makes some transitions harder to follow. To improve, organise the data around comparisons—for example, the shared peak, the decline in older groups, and the small differences between sexes—and use clear linking phrases to connect those points.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant basic terms such as “age groups,” “spend,” and “hours,” so the reader can generally understand the subject and figures. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning awkward: “highest range of spending hours,” “highest ratio,” and “biggest rank” are not natural ways to describe the table. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “ilustrates,” “informtion,” “inernet,” and “peple.” Use precise reporting language and check spelling carefully. For example, describe a value as the “highest figure” or say that a group “spent 19 hours,” rather than using “ratio” or “rank.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response uses mostly simple sentence patterns, with a few attempts to combine information using “while” and “similarly.” However, attempts at longer structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to read. For example, “Overall,in male the highest range … is of age 16 to 20” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “age of 11-15 spend 8 hours” has a subject–verb agreement problem. Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “age of 26-30 spend 4 hours and rest of age…” Build clearer sentences with a subject and verb for each comparison, and check agreement, articles, and punctuation.
