Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the main peak correctly: people aged 16–20 spend the most time online, at 19 hours for males and 18 for females, and you note the low figures for those aged 51+. You also report several other values. However, the overview is unclear and the response does not systematically summarise the overall pattern across age groups. The final sentence is unfinished, and the 31–50 figures are not clearly reported; the table shows 3 hours for males and 4 for females. The description of the oldest group as “2:3 hours” is also imprecise. The response is five words below the required minimum, which further limits its development. A complete overview and accurate comparisons would strengthen the report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening statement is followed by comments on the age groups, and phrases such as “On the other hand” and “On the contrary” signal comparisons. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the comparisons are not consistently grouped or clearly linked. The repeated contrast markers do not always express a genuine contrast, and the final sentence breaks off at “31 to,” leaving the report incomplete. Some references, such as “the number,” are unclear about which gender or age group is meant. Arrange the figures in a clear sequence, use one concise overview, and connect each comparison directly to the relevant age groups.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “demographics,” “age group,” “allocate,” and “dramatically reduced,” showing an attempt to describe patterns rather than simply list figures. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to interpret. For example, “average of total population dedicate their time” does not clearly describe average hours, while “minimal side” and “proportion” are not suitable for these figures. “Screens” also shifts the focus from Internet use. Aim for precise, natural phrases such as “average time spent online,” “the lowest figures,” and “hours per week” only if the table’s time period supports that wording. Avoid using ambitious vocabulary when a simpler, accurate expression is available.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts some longer sentence forms, including “It is clear that…” and a comparison beginning “On the contrary,” but control is weak and errors frequently obscure the intended meaning. Examples include “the male and female proportion with age group of 16-20,” which lacks a clear grammatical structure, and “the age group of above 51 are,” where the subject and verb do not agree. The sentence beginning “whereas” is incomplete, and the final sentence is also unfinished. Articles, plurals, and punctuation are inconsistent, including the repeated “the the.” Use complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and sentence boundaries before submitting.
