Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the main peak and low point: the 16–20 group has the highest figures (19 male and 18 female hours), while the 51+ group has the lowest (2 and 3). You also note that the 26–30 figures are equal. However, the response is only partially developed: it incorrectly calls the figures percentages, and “16–18” misreports the 16–20 age band. The claim that 51+ is a group that does not spend time online is also inaccurate, since the table shows two and three hours. The final sentence does not clearly report the other age-group comparisons. The response is 129 words, below the 150-word minimum; the 11 words copied from the prompt are excluded. Include a clearer overview and accurately describe the figures as hours.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response, beginning with an introduction and an overview before moving to comparisons. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In addition,” and “by comparison” show an effort to connect ideas. However, progression is difficult to follow because several points are repeated, and the final sentence lists three age groups without explaining their figures or how they compare. Some links are also awkward or contradictory, such as “In constant” and “slightly rise or go down.” Improve the paragraph structure by separating the overview from specific comparisons, then group the age bands logically and use clear references to the male and female values.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some relevant task vocabulary, including “average hours,” “age group,” “biggest,” and “lowest,” so the reader can identify the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear. For example, “the most decline group” and “decline the time on internet” do not naturally describe the lowest figures, while “account for the biggest percentage” is unsuitable because the table reports hours, not percentages. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “reamain,” “slighty,” and “mael.” Use precise terms such as “highest average,” “lowest figure,” and “spend time online,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with contrast, for example, “while the age of 51 or above…” and “whereas the age of group 26-30…”. However, the range is limited, and errors in sentence structure and verb forms frequently make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. In “the table illustrate,” the subject and verb do not agree; “the group that spend” also needs a singular verb. The opening phrase “hours that spent” is missing a grammatical subject or passive construction, and several clauses are joined without clear punctuation, particularly in the sentence beginning “In constant.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and build shorter, complete comparison sentences before combining them with linking clauses.
