Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several relevant features, including the peak for people aged 16–20 and the low figures for those aged 51+, and you note that the sexes are close in some groups. However, the account is only partial and the overview is not consistently accurate: men do not spend more in every age group, since women record 4 hours versus 3 for ages 31–50 and 3 versus 2 among those aged 51+. The claim that ages 11–15 are the “second least” group is also incorrect; ages 26–30 and 31–50 are lower. The response is 119 words, below the 150-word minimum, which limits the detail and comparisons provided. Include a fuller overview and accurately compare the main highs, lows and gender differences.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: you begin with an introduction, give an overall statement, and then add comparisons. The reader can identify the main subject and follow individual points. However, the response has no clear progression from an overview to a systematic account of the data. Several observations are repeated, particularly the near-equal figures for ages 16–20, while the age groups are not presented in a consistent order. Linking words such as “And also” do little to clarify how the final comparison relates to the previous one. Use separate, purposeful paragraphs for the overview and key details, and group comparisons logically—for example, the peak, the decline across older groups, and differences between males and females.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the general topic, with relevant terms such as “age group,” “average hours,” and “spent time.” However, the range is limited and repeated use of “spent,” “hours,” and “on the internet” makes the report sound repetitive. Several word-choice and spelling errors are noticeable, including “internert,” “inetrnet,” “amonut,” and “all most.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “spent time on the internet highest” and “second least spend average time.” Use more precise reporting language and check spelling carefully. For example, “recorded the highest average” and “the lowest figure” would express comparisons more naturally and help make the data easier to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts a few different sentence forms, including an overall statement and comparisons, but the range is limited and errors occur frequently. The opening, “The table illustrate the information,” has subject–verb disagreement and an awkward construction. “In 16-20 age group shows” is not a complete grammatical sentence, while “Age 26-30 women and men spent similar average hours” is missing a necessary article or clearer structure. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in the lowercase “age” after a full stop and the sentence fragment beginning “while 51+.” These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise complete sentences with accurate agreement and articles, such as “People aged 16–20 recorded the highest figures for both sexes.”
