Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the main pattern accurately: the 16–20 group records the highest figures, while people aged 51 and over record the lowest. You also report the male and female values for the two youngest groups correctly. However, the response only partially covers the table: the 21–50 figures are not reported accurately or clearly. The claim that these groups use the internet for “75” hours on average does not match the data, which range from 3 to 7 hours for males and 4 to 5 for females. The overview also says usage is “some what constant,” although the figures vary notably by age. Include the key middle-age values and make the overview more precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement, with an introduction, an overview and paragraphs describing the higher- and lower-use groups. This helps the reader follow the broad comparison. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “On the second number” and “Other age groups” show an effort to connect ideas, but some are awkward or do not express the relationship precisely. The final sentence groups ages 21 to 50 together without clearly distinguishing the three age bands, and its figure is difficult to interpret. Improve progression by describing the age groups in order and separating the 21–25, 26–30 and 31–50 figures. Clearer references and more natural transitions would make the organisation more effective.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing data, including “mean hours,” “highest,” “significant usage” and “lower number.” However, the range is limited, and several word choices or collocations are noticeably inaccurate, sometimes making the intended meaning unclear. For example, “highest ratio” is not appropriate for these hour figures, “on the second number” is an unnatural way to rank the groups, and “less time rage from 75” is difficult to understand. “Peoples” is also an incorrect plural form. Aim for precise, conventional language such as “average hours,” “the next-highest figure,” and “ranged from.” This would make comparisons clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response uses mostly simple sentence patterns, with a few attempts to combine ideas using “while” and “including.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. For example, “elders with age above 51 using internet least” lacks a finite verb, while “People with age above 51 shown” uses an incorrect verb form. There are also problems with articles and sentence construction in “spending 19 hours by male and 18 hours by female.” Practise complete clauses with accurate subjects and verbs, such as “Men aged 16–20 spent 19 hours online, compared with 18 hours for women.” More controlled complex sentences would help express comparisons.
