Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response is significantly under-length at 147 words, failing to meet the 250-word minimum requirement. This severely impacts the development of ideas. While the essay attempts to address both views and state an opinion, the arguments are underdeveloped and fragmented. The conclusion is incomplete, and the lack of sufficient word count prevents a full exploration of the topic. To improve, you must expand your points with specific examples and logical explanations to reach the required length, ensuring each paragraph is fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay uses basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'Furthermore', but the logical flow is frequently interrupted by unclear phrasing and incomplete sentences. Paragraphing is attempted, but the ideas within the paragraphs lack a clear, logical progression. The final paragraph is cut off, which disrupts the overall structure of the essay. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words and ensure that each paragraph contains a clear topic sentence followed by supporting details that flow naturally into one another.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'good way to accept' and 'wrong choice to employer', which occasionally make the meaning difficult to follow. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas effectively. To improve, try to learn collocations (words that naturally go together) and use more precise academic vocabulary. Avoid using simple, repetitive words and aim to incorporate more varied synonyms for common terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('the job have been impact'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper grammatical control, which hinders clarity. There is a very limited range of complex structures, and the attempts made are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and verb tenses. Proofreading for common errors like missing articles or incorrect verb forms will also help improve your accuracy.
